Virtual Conservation Field Day

Virtual Conservation Field Day 2020

For the past 33 years, the Winooski Valley Park District has hosted Conservation Field Day – a fun-filled day of hands-on conservation & environmental education workshops for 5th graders in our seven member towns. Students participate in a series of workshops lead by professionals from numerous conservation and environmental focused organizations from across the state. Since we couldn’t hold the event in person this year, we decided to put together a VIRTUAL CONSERVATION FIELD DAY instead!

We reached out to the organizations that usually provide workshops asking if they had or would be willing to create an activity for our virtual event. Many of the organizations responded and  provided activities, videos, and challenges for us to share! At Conservation Field Day, students are only able to participate in five out 30+ workshops at the event, but with virtual Conservation Field Day YOU are able to experience as many activities as you wish – whenever you want! We are also able to provide this experience to more than just the students from the schools that are invited. We are thrilled to be able to share this resource with more students and families this year, and are so excited to share this opportunity with you!

Many of the activities can be done right at home in your own backyard or neighborhood. If you want to venture out to a park or natural area near you, please visit our Environmental Education Resources page for information on safely getting outside during this time with COVID-19. If you plan to visit a WVPD Park near you, please visit our Park Rules & Regulation page, and stay  up to date on WVPD’s response to COVID-19 by visiting our COVID-19 Resources page.

We hope you enjoy Virtual Conservation Field Day and getting outside! THANK YOU!!
