Picnic Shelter Rentals

The Winooski Valley Park District's picnic shelter is available for rental at the Park District's Ethan Allen Homestead historic site. Shelter rentals include eight full-size picnic tables, electricity, water, fireplace (please supply your own firewood or charcoal), trash and recycling removal, restroom access, and adequate parking. The picnic shelter is within short walking distance of the Ethan Allen house and barn, nature trails, community and children's discovery gardens, wetland walks, and canoe and fishing access. With reasonable rates, the picnic shelter is an inviting and affordable location for events, reunions, and parties. Reservations are required.

Small Groups (50 or fewer people)

  $20.00 for half day
  $40.00 for whole day
  $20.00 rental deposit applied to rental cost
 

Large Groups (51-100 people)

  $60.00 for half day
  $120.00 for whole day
  $50.00 refundable damage deposit

Rules and Regulations Governing the Ethan Allen Homestead Picnic Shelter:

1. Reservations must be made with the WVPD Director no later than two weeks prior to the proposed use of park. Incomplete applications will not be accepted.
2. Each applicant must agree to assume responsibility for any legal liability for injury or damage to the person or property of the applicant or other and to save the WVPD, its directors, and employees harmless in the event of such injury or damage. WVPD reserves the right to require a damage deposit and/or written proof of liability insurance.
3. Each applicant is responsible for their own cleanup and are required to leave the area in the same condition in which they found it. Someone must be appointed as responsible for such clean up. Glass bottles are not allowed.
4. In the event of damage to WVPD property or inadequate cleanup, the WVPD reserves the right to demand reimbursement.
5. Because of state law, alcoholic or intoxicating beverages cannot be dispensed for as entral location unless done so by a licensed caterer. WVPD reserves the right to reject such a caterer at its own discretion.
6. Motor vehicles are allowed only on designated, improved roads.
7. Noise must be kept at a reasonable level so as to not disturb other park visitors or neighbors of the park. NO AMPLIFIED MUSIC.
8. The use of picnic fires should be confied to fireplaces provided by the WVPD. Visitors should provide their own food.
9. Dogs are welcome only when on a leash in order to protect wildlife. Owners must immediately clean up waste in public thoroughfares.
10. Each applicant is required to acknowledge receipt of these rules and regulations and their responsibility for their compliance therewith.
11. WVPD reserves the right to reject application at its own discretion. WVPD also reserves the right to cancel, for appropriate reasons, including but not limited to, violation of any of the rules and regulations, or any other state or local law or ordinances in effect. It is the applicants' sole responsibility to ascertain such other laws or ordinances as may be in effect.
12. Admission to the park is possible from sunrise to sunset each day. Evening use is allowed by prior appointment.
